Price on a A-5 410 grade 3?
« on: October 14, 2011, 01:44:11 PM »
A friend of mine has a grade 3 A-5 in 410 he is thinking of selling. Does anybody out there know the value of the gun. In my 35 years of fooling with guns this is the only one i have ever seen. Any help will be appreciated.

It would be priceless, as Browning never made an Auto 5 in .410.

The only possibility would be an experimental, undocumented, hand made tool room sample, that would be worth about the price of a new home to serious Browning collectors.  I am sure, considering the potential value and rarity, you friend wouldn't mind if you posted a few detailed pictures???

If it exists I'd buy it if the price was close to right.

That's what I get for listening to somebody without seeing it myself. It turns out it was a MDL 42 instead of a A-5, finally got to see it today. Sorry guys my hopes were up also.

They are priceless, since Browning didn't make the A-5 in .410 bore.  Could it be one of the newer semi-autos or a Superposed/Citori?

Yeah it was sweet, I would have loved to put it in my safe but I couldn't sneak it by the wife.

Tgun,

Ya got to bring it into the house in stages....Not just hit her with it cold. First get it behind the truck seat for a while. Then send her on a shoping trip and bring it into the house, oh say under the bed or back of the closet, in a old gun case.  :o Then after a few months you can start taking it out to shoot, but carry it past her in the old case.  ::) Then a couple years later try cleaning it while watching tv with her. When she expresses suprise at your "new gun" respond with " oh this old thing I've had this for years, I just don't shoot it much"...  ;)

I usually leave it at a buddy's house for a few months then bring it home. But she got wise so I've got to lay low for a while.
