6.5 Grendel

I love the Grendel in my AR, but it is too heavy for my grandson to shoot well.
Thinking of getting a custom bbl in 6.5 Grendel and adding it to his Contender.
Will it work in the Contender or will I have to go to the Encore?
Encore gets heavy for a 9yr old.
Any one use the Grendel with the 123 A-Max on deer?

The grendel is a bit big(diameter-wise) for the contender, you'll have to go to the encore for it.  The 6.8 spc works well in the contender and would be a dandy cartridge for your grandson, plus it would give you an excuse for another upper for your AR !!    Sorry, don't have any experience with the 123gr A-max.

E. Arthur Brown Company offers a Contender barrel in .264 LBC which is essentially identical to the 6.5 Grendel.  Alexander Arms just recently relinquished it's trademark on the 6.5 Grendel due to SAAMI making it an official SAAMI cartridge and therefore making way for all barrel makers to chamber barrels w/o paying for the right to do so.  It would be my guess that if you really want a 6.5 Grendel barrel for your Contender it's doable.  Have fun.

I believe Bullberry used to offer the 6.5 Grendel for the Contender. Not sure if they still do or not.

Bullberry offers the 6.5 Grendel but only for the Encore as pressures are too high for the Contender and G2.
