Timing for does in estrous
« on: November 21, 2011, 01:51:50 PM »
I have been watching a big doe with 3 yearlings the past few weeks in Ohio hoping she would attract a nice buck.  But the height of the rut is past now and no bucks hanging around her.  Since the yearlings are hanging with her regularly still, could it be that the timing for this doe to be in estrous is later? I am wondering if she birthed these little ones later in the season judging by their size. We know that some does attract bucks long after the main rut is over, so I wonder if this is the case with this doe? Any thoughts?

Don't know where you are but here in CT the bucks were going absolutely nuts on Nov 16,17 & 18.

It is my understanding that a doe will go into estrous every 28 days until she is bred.
