New Handi's
« on: November 22, 2011, 11:31:24 AM »
I live in Michigan and I'm finding it hard to find any new handi's in any stores in southeast Mich. I can find used but not new. Gander Mountain, Dicks, Cabala's, Dunhams. Has H&R lowered production levels? Dicks said thy could order me one but couldn't say when it would come in.

Jay's Outdoors in Clare had about 20 on the shelf last time I was there.  My local Dunhams has typically 5-10, but rarely in calibers I want.  You looking for something specific?  If so, let me know and I'll check here.  Dunno where you are in MI, but I'm in the middle o' the mitten.  ;)

I believe there is a gun show in Birch Run this weekend, you should be able to find some there.

Well Jim, if you're interested in checking them out, Davidson's Gallery of Guns has (3) 7mm-08 std. contour full size and (3) youth size in stock.  You might see if there's a dealer near you for shipment.  I'm lucky because Jim's Gunshop here in Mt. P. is nice and he adds no additional charges.  Some of the distributors do.  Here's the links to check them out if you like.  Nice thing is that you get a Lifetime Replacement Warranty for original purchaser that if the gun breaks or isn't right they will replace it.  I bought my .45LC CLassic Carbine through them and was glad I did, because I got 2 bad ones with messed up chambers first and finally on the 3rd try it was perfect.  I use Davidson's whenever I can.  Bud's is good too and I've purchased some guns online through them as well, but they have no 7mm-08 in stock.  8(

From all appearances, the way things seem to be going now with quality control it may be a good idea to look again at the used ones.

You guys are lucky you're on the L.P. and not Da U.P.  My closest candy store that has anything at all is in Pickford, an hour and half away.  There's a dealer in Newberry who'll order what you want.  I've been to Gander in Marquette recently (2 hours) and they had one Pardner.  Dunham's in the Soo (1 Hour) also had zilch.  Looking for AA1680 too and nobody had it.  Earlier this Fall, I did pick up a nice 7mm-08 Whitetails Unlimited for my wife in excellent condition for 195 at Tony's in Pickford.  The finds up here are few and far between.  No FFL pawn shops either.

Good luck Jim.  I may be there also.  Been invited to ride along, but I've spent my wad at the moment, so would be just a waste of time and money to pay to get in.  May yet go though.  8(
