Bergara Barrel marking brass???
« on: November 20, 2011, 02:21:55 PM »
I have a .223 Bergara barrel and when I fired the first round (factory ammo) I noticed it was leaving a small ring (about an 1/16" wide) around the brass about 1/2 in. from the end of the empty case.

I plan on reloading this brass, is this something I should be worried about?
I plan to call Bergara anyway, but didn't want to shoot alot & have to toss the brass.

Thanks, Blu

Sounds to me like a step in the chamber...  Perhaps a picture would help to diagnose.  8(

I know you said 1/2'' from the end, but which end? If it's from the primer end, you've got case stretching and it'll likely separate there on the first reload. If it's on the front(bullet end) it sounds like a step. You may end up contacting Bergara...

Its on the bullet end, and I'm not set up to easily post a pic, sorry, I know it would be easier if you could see it.

To me it looks like a step in the chamber, I went ahead and contacted Bergara, and they told me to send it in with an empty case for them to check.

So, I'll get to try out their customer service first hand I guess.

Thanks for the help!

Good idea bud.  It stinks getting a new gun and having to return it, but probably best to get this figured out quick.  ;)
