.358 WSSM loads
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:50:03 AM »
Hello all,
I realize this should probably go in the handloading section but since it is so specific to IN hunters thought I'd try it here first.  I am loading up rounds for my new 358 WSSM.  I have tried N-135 and IMR4895 with 225 gr Accubonds.  Does anyone have any suggestions or loads they would share?  I am using Nosler's data for 358 Winchester and treating their max loads as the upper limit.  Seems I'm topping out velocity wise at around 2500 fps.  I've heard 2600 fps with 225 grs but this seems to be pushing it?  Anyone who could share their experiences would be appreciated as its getting too close to season to try every powder out there.
Thanks.

PS, Dinny, sorry if this doesn't belong here, just say the word and I'll repost it to the handloading section.

Doc,
You're fine, send me an email and I can point you to another source for load data. ;)

My buddy just worked up a load today with H322 and 225 grain Sierra. His spread on velocity was 4fps and the 100 yard group was right at .5" Velocity was 2514fps. Encore barrel. I am working on some loads for the 200 gr. Barnes. Off all next week so will be doing some testing.

I think Schoolmaster shoots one too. I know he stays pretty busy during hunting season, hopefully he will have some good info to share when get gets back online.

Thanks, Dinny
