made a loaf of bread today.
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:20:29 AM »
I know it aint much but i was pretty proud. I actually made two the first didnt rise right. I think i didnt let the yeast work long enough but the second one came out picture perfect. It isnt something ill do all the time but ive got alot of flour put up and figured I at least should know how to use it. My wife will get a chuckle out of this when she gets home from work. Pretty productive day. I canned 12 quarts of baked beans and 3 quarts of chicken and made the bread.

Something else I have't done in years/decades...  :-\

I used to really like making bread.  I bought one of those bread making machines but never really liked the way the bread turned out.  So I stopped makeing any.  Maybe I'll give it another shot!   ;D

I'm trying a new soup recipe today.  Started out with two big links of country sausage, sliced and fried in the bottom of the pot,  Then I added about 2 quarts of water and boiled for 30 minutes.  Added a heaping double handful (how is that for a measurement) of chopped Swiss chard.   One can of Rotel tomatoes with peppers and one small can of tomato sauce.  One can of great northern beans.  Might add some cooked rice after I taste it.  It's got to be good.

rice and beans are one of my staples in my food stash but personaly i detest rice. they made us eat so much of it in the service that i swore id never eat it again. Id hate to ruin good soup by putting rice in it instead of noodles! Someday i may have to eat rice to get by but until then it stays in buckets and cans!!
