My opinion of the .480 SRH is it just can't get much better.
But at the time they were made from unobtainium so I bought a .475 BFR. Also a wonderful caliber and the .475 itself might have cut into Ruger's sales.
I have often wondered if Ruger and Magnum Research had a deal with MR making the larger calibers in SA. Ruger's Pine Tree casts the BFR parts.
The worst thing Ruger could ever do is to stop making the .480.

Count me as a 480 Ruger convert!! I just purchased a NIB 480 Ruger SRH 7 1/2 bbl last Friday. I have been shooting it and getting used to it.

It's a new 2011 run by the S/N range. The date on the spent case package is Aug 2011. I had heard through the grapevine that Ruger was making a limited run of 480's. I just had to have one. I am glad I got it. It is very comfortable to shoot. So far, I've been using 325 gr Hornady XTP's and some Cast Performance 410 gr WFNGC's. It shoots very well with the WFNGC's. I can't believe how well it shoots. It doesn't do too shabby with the Hornady XTP's either.

First shot was low and I adjusted the scope. This is not bad for me. I'm not the most accomplished pistol shooter. I would rather shoot the 480 with the 410's and stiff load of H110 than my 44 mag with 320 gr WLN's. Call me crazy, but the 480 SRH is more controllable than my 44 Mag SBH. Granted, the weight of the SRH with scope helps the recoil. My only complaint is the cost of bullets. I see an LBT mold for it in my future :) .

Sold my SRH in 480 and bought me a sacrifice SBH to send to Reeder for a 475 build that I'll shoot 480's in.

I have 2 of the 475 Linebaugh's from Gary Reeder. One is a Super Blackhawk in the Alaskan Hunter model,  and the other is a Redhawk Mastodon.

BR6PPC,

Check out the Rainer 325 grain HP.  $26.49 for 100 at some places.  I load mine with 9.2 grains of Unique and it shoots quite well.  I started off loading the 275 grain Gold Dot with H110, plenty of power!! but the bullets were too expensive for target practice.
