NIB Interarms Mauser Luger, 1970's vintage
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:36:42 AM »
Hi All,

I have a chance to buy one of these, unfired from an estate sale.  It has the Eagle logo on the receiver and a grip safety.  I suspect it's one of the swiss varients but won't know until I actually see it.  Any idea what it may be worth as I can negotiate the asking price.

Hey Doug:  that certainly sounds like a nice pistol.  I would love to own a new P-08.  The dollar sign on that one might be near $1,000.  Mauser made those Lugers back in the 70s.  They are new production and with the grip safety it may well be patterned after the Swiss model but it is newer by half a century.  I don't know if they were made in the 9mm or if they were chambered in the original 30 Luger (one of my mostest favorite cartridges - would love to see it chambered in some of the newer carry 9s).

Anyhow, it will cost a bunch because it is the P-08 pistol.  I'm not so certainit carries the collector value of one of the originals but it the value will increase over time.  I think that if I had one of those I would be shooting the darn thing all the time, but with nothing heavier than a 125 gn bullet at no faster than 1100'/sec, which is what those actions were designed for.  It would be about the same with a new Cimarron Arms or Uberti 1873 - might be a newly made pistol with modern metals but the actions are not what a modern day S&W revolver can handle or for a semi, what a newer 9mm can handle.  Send us pictures.....

Hey Mikey!!!

Thanks....since I posted this I found in my collection an original Interarms brochure that shows the pistols!  I believe it is a Swiss variant with the grip safety and the Am Eagle engraving on the receiver.  It's NIB, never fired with all the papers.  If I can get it...and I think I can...I will fire it.  I had a Mauser P08 in fair/good condition with all matching parts built in 1936....bought for $350.  Sold for $1200.  If I get this one....I will not let it go...promise.

BTW...buddy of mine found a GUINESS hat with a Guinness harp medal emblem on the brim.  Turns out the medal serves as an anchor for the bottle opener under the brim!  If'n I can find out where he bought it, I'll get two and send you one!

Doug:  Lolol.  I like the idea of the bottle opener - thanks.  Let us know about that Luger.

Check out the Luger forum which won't cost you anything to join. They have an astounding amount of information there. Hold on to your wallet though. After a half hour there I find myself making plans to re mortgage the house.
