TC Venture
« on: December 03, 2011, 08:02:12 AM »
I was wondering if anyone out there has one of these or has shot one and what your thoughts were on it. From all i've read it would sound like a great deal with MOA and a detachable mag. Thanks for the help.

I tried to buy on a while back, and was told by 2 stores that they have all been recalled.... I wanted one in 7-08  or 270..  they had great prices, and advertized a rebate... but can't get one... there is a 'gun-auction' that still lists them, but now I am a bit leary.  They came out a few years ago with a rifle, "smith and wesson I bolt", I bought one, and loved it, it was very accurate.  Alas, they recalled the bolt on those, finally discontinued the rifles, and I peddled mine.  I wonder if the Venture is gonna go the same route.   good luck... I have an I-Bolt in 25-06 that shoots pretty well but haven't spent enough time at the load bench lately for it. I heard about the recall on the Venture but wasn't sure of its current status. I didn't hear about the recall on the I-Bolt makes me wonder now...

Dan... The one I had, also had a rebate.. shortly after I got that, they sent me a letter recalling the bolt, I sent it in.. and they sent it back with a dot punched into the thing..( showing that it had been recalled I guess..)  anyway, mine was a 30-06, and it shot everything I put thru it well,  around a inch or a bit less...handloads, and factory loads.  There was a lot of 'doom and gloom' mentioned about the rifle, but I liked mine... it was a bit heavy, and I replaced it with a Tikka t-3..  Bob

i had one in .22-250 but i needed cash and sold it. it shot very well and fed great and the stock felt like it was designed very well. would love another one sometime.

the recall was only for a sear issue that they weren't sure even existed in most of the rifles.
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

Sounds like for the price its a pretty solid rig. I was thinking 338 Winchester Magnum or the 280 Remington. Thanks for the replies much appreciated.

I had one in 308 and it didn't stay long with me.  I spend weeks trying to find a load that would produce at least 1 MOA.  I never got there even with hand loads.  I gave up and got rid of it.  If you want a good shooting rifle at a lower cost look at the Marlins.  I have one in 7mm-08 and sub MOA is no problem.  Not bad for a $250.00 rifle.

I hear the Marlins are very impressive for there price range. My friends thinking about getting one. They seem to balance well and there fairly light.
