35 caliber on a .223 case
« on: January 09, 2012, 01:48:09 PM »
I can't seem to find anything like I'm looking for, so I thought I'd ask.  Is there a wildcat based on a cut down, reformed .223 Remington case in .358 caliber?

I don't think it's possible.  The diameter of the case is just to small to fit a .358 bullet (unless you blow out all taper and thin the case mouths quite a bit).
Aim small, miss small!!!

Yep I see that now. I found the 338 Thumper and it's almost if not completely straight walled case!  I don't think it would work either

Shoulder dia. is down to .354 not including brass thickness.  Def. too small it appears.

If you straigt wall the case you would still have to turn the neck to where they were very thin just to get the bullet in, then you would have no shoulder to head space on. Head space would have to be set with the bullet on the rifleings and while it could be done I would think that it`s really not prectical.

Sam Fadala had a 6mm/222 that he said was a good deer killer.  I would like a .25/223.
it should be a great coyote rifle.
