Oak and Copper

My firewood pile often provides some nice wood; this is from last years pile that's had time to season.  A large Wharncliffe out of 1/8 inch S-30V and my Copperhead skinner out of 3/32 inch CPM154CM.  Both have 5 inch blades, tip to bolster.  Wood is quartersawn white oak.  Oak doesn't normally need a finish, but I used Watco's Teak Oil, a marine rated wood finish, on it to keep the grime from getting embedded into the wood. My usual copper bolsters/trim.

Very nice stuff!  That wharncliff really speaks to me!  I also love the copper.

Hey Joel!  Where did you get the copper round stock for the grip pins?   :-\   I can't find any listed at Jantz or other suppliers.

Joel, nice job on those knives. 

I burn lodge-pole pine and Douglas fir so don't have those little "gifts" hiding in the wood pile.

The wharncliff is my favorite.  Gotta ask where you get your blades.

I ground these from 1 1/2 inch X 3/32 inch barstock I purchased from Admiral Steel.   It comes right out the mill except for being slit to size.  I grind all my own blades except once in a while I"ll put together a Green River Dadley just for the fun of it.

Sheffield Knifemakers Supply has it.  www.sheffieldsupply.com takes you to  their website and download options for their catalog.   Actually, since I use a LOT of copper, I go through www.onlinemetals.com.
