Living in Alaska, we can not get a live tree that has not been frozen. Too big a fire hazard, once it thaws. We went artificial in 1985. Over 40 years I went on too many Christams tree fires in base housing.
When Sky was small the wife bought a huge 15 footer. I decorated half if it from the second floor balcony. We used it till Sky was in High School. Sky and I developed a hatred for that thing. It suddenly disappeared, wonder what happened to it? So then the wife got a smaller 8 ft tree. Last year Sky revolted, he refused to get it out of the shed. He said "Mom, you make such a big production at Christmas I hate it"! So Sky went to Wal-Mart, and came home with a small three ft tree with lights and decorations already installed. He opened the box, set the tree on a small table, plugged it in and said "We're good to go". I agreed.
