Just bought a T3 Superliite 30-06
« on: November 27, 2011, 11:07:26 AM »
A couple of years ago, my son was ready to move up to a bigger rifle, so I gave him my Rem. Model 7 7mm-08. I bought a 24" encore .280 to replace it, but have been wanting a new lightweight bolt gun. I have been eyeing my buddy's T3 lite for years. Bass Pro has the T3 Superlite black/blued for $549 so I bit the bullet. I plan on putting a Nikon Monarch 2.5x10x42 on it. This will be my "79 Ford truck" of rifles. Kind of a do-all, everyday, lightweight deer gun. The wife won't let me have it until Christmas, so I'm going to get it scoped up and wait. I think I'm going to shoot some 165's in it. What factory loads have ya'll have success with?

Congrats on the new T3, but you didn't mention what caliber. I handload, but the Federal factory loads have always been accurate in my rifles.

I have a T3 30-06.   Mine likes 180 gr with H4831 the best.  It shoots 150 and 165 nosler BT very well.  You should make out because I have never heard of a bad Tikka.  Enjoy

You may find some of the tikka's do not group all that well just out of the box . My '06 shot 1 1/2 groups at it's best, until I had about a hundred rounds through the barrel . Try some of the federal cheaper loads with the gray box's, as they do well in the tikka's to start .
I have always loaded 180 gr bullets in the '06 since it covers all the game I tend to shoot hunting , but sure your rifle may or may not shoot something better . As afar as reloads I keep returning to H4350.
As far as the rifles go - Well got three in the safe now that I use and had no issue's with them at all . All the other brands needed trigger and bedding , while the t3 have always been ready to go after installing the scope .That in itself says something about the brand .

While visiting Alaska last May, I saw a new Tikka Stainless T3 Superlite in 30-06. It had a 22" fluted barrel and weighed 5 1/2 lbs. Besides yours being blued, is this the same rifle that you have? I was surprised to see the 1" accuracy guarantee label on that light of a rifle.

Thanks, Dinny

I am 99.9% sure that this is the same rifle. It is listed at 5.8 lbs. and has a 22 7/16", fluted barrel. I ended up going with the 2.5-10x50 nikon monarch in a medium height DNZ Gamereaper mount. I also added a Sims recoil pad and razor sling. According to my fish scale it weighs in @ 7.46 lbs. unloaded. I'm going to shoot it this saturday. It really looks sweet!
