Gun repair and Barrel add on
« on: December 13, 2011, 05:29:49 PM »
Hello.  Let me start by saying that I called H&R about adding a 45/70 barrel and the lady said they were out of stock.   She looked a little more into it and said they just got a new batch so if anyone was waiting for them they are there.

I am sending a new 308 in for repair.   I got maybe 1/2 box of ammo through it and it did not have enough force to set off the primers for the rest of the box.   Since it was going in I figured that I would have a 22" 45/70 fitted.  They are still going to charge me the $19 or so to ship the barrel.   Is charging for the shipping pretty much the norm when a gun goes in for repair?   Either way it is only $19 and I will have a 45/70 to add to the BC that I have owned for over a year and have not even shot yet.   I have read all the other members warning about the addiction....there could be worse addictions to have.

You're paying for shipping the .45-70 barrel. not the repair.  I just shipped a lighter barrel yesterday and it cost 18.46 so H&R is making anything on shipping.

So they ship the barrel separate?  I figured they would put it in the same box with the rifle.   Getting to join the 45/70 handi club is well worth the $19 fee.

Several years ago I sent mine off for 357 and 30-30 barrels to be fitted and they sent all of them in one box.

You should ask for a return shipping label for the repair, then while it's there, get the barrel added, you'll still be charged the return shipping, fitting fee and tax on the accessory barrel tho since it's part of the accessory barrel order as stated on the order form.
