225 Win in a 340 V
« on: December 15, 2011, 08:43:02 AM »
I picked this rifle up when I was a kid around 1966 or 1967, this was my first deer rifle. I bought it used for like $60 from a guy in my home town. It has the checkered stock and a sidemount weaver scope base. I have never seen one in this cal. ever. Is this a rare cal. for the 340V and what years did they make it? It has been a safe Queen for several years, until I made the grandson use it for his first deer hunt. He scored a 6point buck the first time out, so grandpa was proud of him! I was wondering what this rifle would be worth if I was to ever sell it? Zeak

I had a Savage 340 in 225. Bought it about that same time period. Killed a lot of woodchucks with it.
Sold it to my future father in law so i could buy a beagle pup. My FIL gave it to a friend of his in PA.
40 some  years later and the guy still has it and has killed a few deer with it.
Do a searce on the 340. Lots of good info there.
