NEWB question
« on: October 08, 2012, 01:19:02 PM »
I have been looking at budsgunshop for a 357mag handi. I seen they have a sb2 which is out of stock but a lot cheaper. Then they have just a handi rifle which is more expensive. I was wondering what the difference in them was?

I am looking to ream it to 357 max

I just took a look, and found only one type in stock:  SB1-S35 , for $270.00.  This is on a SB1 frame as noted from the stock number.  This frame is for shotgun and low pressure centerfire barrels such as the 357, and 44 mag.

They showed a combo 20 ga. and 357 as out of stock, but it also was an SB1 frame.

Welcome to the forum.  Spend some time in the FAQ's and you will understand the difference in the frame types, as well as learning all the "inside" knowledge of these fine little guns.

New 357 and 44 mags are stamped SB2 on the barrel but are on SB1 frames.  I have a 357 Max barrel on a SB1 frame and love it, all the info is in the FAQ.

The trouble with budsgunshop is that their on line inventory is out dated.  For example, I was looking for a Marlin 1894CL which was discontinued quite a while ago.  Buds still has it listed as out of stock/add to wish list.  You could sit there and wish a long time.

Welcome Aboard!
The new SB1 357 will handle the Maxi . Many have  them here also some use the SB2 frame as well for a warm fuzzy feeling. I have both and see no difference, of course it does not take much to give me a warm fuzzy feeling ;D

George, I'm one of the "warm fuzzy" folk.  I even have a .410 on a SB2.  It's my gradson's versa pack.  Not that it needs it, I just don't keep very many SB1s around.  No spares at all.  I suppose one of these days I'll get a SB1 for it and free up the SB2.  I always keep a few of those around in case I run into something "I need". ::)

WELCOME!!

At this time the 357Mag is only avalible on a SB1 frame. Now you may see some BARRELS marked SB2. Just remember, its a receiver thas a SB anything. ;)

Many of the guys have built Maxi's off these frames with no problems. Still others, like was mentioned just like the added security of the stronger SB2.
