Author Topic: Help! Can't figure out how to mount shell holder.... (Read 549 times)

I know this sounds VERY stupid, but I can not figure out how to mount the shell holders on the end of the ram on my Lee Aniversary kit press.
It came with 11 shell holders. The end of the ram has a cut out with a snap ring around it. There is nothing in the cut out nor any extra pieces that I have that look like the could slide up in it. I do not see a way to fit the individual shell holder in the cutout on the ram. All I can figure is that I may be missing a piece that goes in the cut out and holds the shell holder?
Any ideas?

The gunsmith who sold me the kit ordered ordered RCBS dies to go with the lee kit. All lee dies come with shell holders. The RCBS die kit did not.
Thanks RCBS! Does anyone know if the RCBS shell holder will fit the lee O press?

I dont know anything about lee products, but I do know that you do not need an RCBS shellholder just because you have a RCBS die set. Just use the Lee shellholders. But make sure you use the right lee shellholder for the caliber die you are using.

Oh, I know on RCBs and Lyman you just slide the shellholder into the mouth of the receiver of the ram. It might slide hard but it should go in. Plz remember though that I have never looked at Lee stuff and maybe they have a different way of doing things.

lee makes 2 kind of shell holders. one is for the lee hand primer and looks like a disk with a spot for the case to slide in. the other looks like the above disk but with another littler disk under it. Kind of like a table the small part slides in the ram.

most of lee dies do come with shell holders but not all of them (RGB)
none of the rcbs dies come with shell holders.

the RCBS, hornady and lee shell holders will work on your press

I believe Rickyp has it right. Your trying to use the shell holders for the hand priming tool. KN

Yup, the Anniversary kit comes with 11 shell holders for the handprimer. The actual press shellholders come free with the Lee dies. Some "other" die manufacturers dont even give you the shellholder. You have to buy it seperate.
