The author claims the drone was 'stolen' from US owner/operators thru a 'backdoor'.  I don't know, not an expert, but he's right about the semi-conductor business....

You know, it takes a lot of money to build a bomb or a drone. Each time one is exploded or lost that wealth is gone forever. It could have been used to build something to help us prosper. No wonder our standard of living is falling. Maybe we should just keep them here. I think Jefferson knew this.

Gary, I thought about that post of yours for a litle while and came to the conclusion that other then the labour to built either of these items they are paper cheap. That is what our money is worth these days, just paper.

Yup, the money represents the labor and resources. All is wasted..... poof.

Speaking of money, we are really screwing the Chinese. They are sending us useful items that we can use and we are sending them paper smeared with green ink that has no intrinsic value. Soon enough the perceived value will equal the intrinsic value.

Well, until we reach that point, I'll take all of that ink smeared paper you've got lying around.  It's still a lot easier to go shopping with our worthless paper than a bag full of intrinsic Chinese crap.

That is why the Chinese won't ever call our loans. We could print ship loads of paper currency and pay our debt and the value of the cash they hold would go to relative zero. They are better off holding the debt and keep selling us goods and the dollar value will remain viable relative to the world monetary values.

With all the ecconomic trouble in the US and the European Union the world money value is still based against the dollar. The dollar appears to have the strongest creadibility because of our precieved stability.

We feel that that stability is a joke but our military streangth and business values are the only stable base that is recognized world wide relative to honesty in banking and trade.

Wonder if the rest of the world feels as insecure about our future and thier future as so many US citizens do?

Scarey ain't it?

That is what I expect; in fact it is already happening. That is what "kicking the can down the road" amounts to. That is what politicians always do. Winning the next election is all that is important to them.

On the drone:
I read this morning that Iran has refused to give up the drone citing that it was a violation of their air space and an act of war. In another place, I read that the Iranians are doing military maneuvers for a contingent shut down of the straits of Hormuz if attacked. $300 dollar oil would be devastating to the US and European economy.

What we don't know on these trade agreements , at least I don't know, is there a clause that could require paying back the Chinese with gold if the paper $ is worthless?

Nope!

But we must be nice to the Chinese and devalue slowly or else they dump their dollars and end America as we know it. That will probably come after the Euro desolves and the bond holders take the US to task as they have done with Greece, Italy and Spain. Rising interest rates will expose the debt as unworkable. Default or print is the choice.

Had an old gal in my neighboorhood years ago that would keep any ball or toy that landed in her yard.  Pretty much the same thing here.
