7MM IHMSA
« on: June 07, 2003, 02:41:21 PM »
Can anyone tell me if the 7-08 could be used to make the brass for 7mm IHMSA. I looked, I think this could be used. I think it would be a better choice than the original 300 Savage.
Thanks,

Sure, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it. You'll just have to trim more material after it's formed.

Sure thank you. Been useing the 300 Sav., but getting a lot of malformed brass. Not sure of the problems. Don't mind the trimming if they will last.

I'ld suggest checking to see if you'e not useing to much lube in your forming process ?
If you use the 7-08 brass, make up only 2 or 3, trim and check for fit, depending on your chamber you might have to neck turn or inside ream.
an easier way , IF excess lube isn't your problem would be to use either 22-250 or 250 savege and simpley neck up .
Just a thought ,

Thanks,
REH :-)

I use Lapua .308 brass to make my IHMSA calibers.  You don't get the little buldge at the base of the brass like you do using .300 savage brass.
