NEF/H&R Survivor in .308
« on: January 28, 2004, 03:16:10 PM »
Hello,

Does anyone else here have a Survivor .308?  I just got mine and am waiting on a scope and for the range to reopen to shoot it.  Any input on it? Likes/ Dislikes?
Thanks,

Floyd

Floyd:

I've have a 308 Survivor.I replaced the Choate stock and forarm with a factory cinnamon laminated one,and added the blued steel forearm spacer as well.

I'm still trying to get a long throat problem corrected with it,which is purely a personal problem for me since the rifle is capable of producing 1-1-1/2" groups with Norma factory ammo.

All in all I think your going to like it,if the stock fits you,and if you find the correct load.

Just got my Survivor in 308 finished and will be going to the range with it for the first time tomorrow. I did the same thing Floyd did with changing the stock to a laminate.  There just did not seem to be enough weight for me with all the recoil from a 30.cal and the laminates look a whole lot better.  Was curious Floyd where did you get the metal spacer and what did it cost.  I was on the phone with H&R today about one and they said it only comes from them as a kit with the metal trigger guard and all for super low price of $70.00 + dollars.  What are they crazy.  Dont know what you are using for scope rings but I put on the Burris Signature Z rings medium and they worked fine.  Really like those inserts and how they dont leave ring marks on the scope.   :D
