A friend of mine has one for sale, and it's a 44 Magnum with a 10" barrel.  It has a wooden grip and forend, and adjustable  sights.  It's in very nice condition and doesn't look like it was fired much if at all.  I just don't really know anything about them.  This barrel isn't tapped for scope mounts, but I don't know if any of them were anyway.

He also has a 10" 45 barrel with a choke in the end, and the chamber will accept a 3" 410 shotshell.  The choke on this one is all internal.  This barrel also has adjustable sights but is missing the little piece that the forend screws into, but is also in great shape otherwise, and he'll include it for $60.00 more.

If that is the complete gun for $280 you should grab it. The extra barrel also. Most Contenders around here are in the $400+ range, with one barrel.

they are all tapped for a scpoe you take off the rear sight and use the 4 holes there

Locally they go for 350 where I live. The barrels are a lot more than 60. Would get it as well for a snake charmer or swap it on GBO for something else. IMHO it would be a good idea to swap for a 22lr. You could learn to shoot it accurately for pennies on the dollar compared to a centerfire.

On the 44, the rear sight comes off and the scope mount goes there on all the barrels I ever had.

Just the frame goes for $300+ around here. GRAB IT. You can get the part that is missing from the 45/410 barrel from T/C and other after market places cheap.

Great deal, but a warning! You won't stop with just the two barrels! I know from my experience with a great deal on a G2 with two barrels and a scope a few months ago. Now I have a G2, 4 barrels, and three scopes. AND IT'S JUST STARTING!!!
Buy it, and have fun. Great guns for all kinds of shooting.

Thanks for all the replies, you guys.  I went and bought this thing, and though I haven't shot it yet, I can see real potential here.  I'm kind of kicking myself for not trying the single shot pistol thing a lot sooner, because this gun shows incredible promise!  It has wooden stocks, with no rubber, and the pistol grip and forend are a nice walnut.  The blue is very nice with no wear, and it's a deep rich  blue.  The lever is the nicest plum color I've seen in a long time.  The sights are sharp and easy to see.  This gun just seems to drip quality.  I have to agree with those who warned about not being able to stop with 2 barrels.  I might be on a barrel hunt for other calibers now.  I think I'm going to try and find the rifle stock set and a rifle length rimfire barrel now, and then try some of the other calibers like 35 Remington and 45-70 that I've been reading about for years.  I'll start my barrel hoard by buying the other barrel sometime in the next couple of weeks and shoot 45 Colt and 410 shotshells from it.  It should be a lot of fun.  The serial number is in the 200xxx range.  Any ideas as to when it was made?

200XXX puts it in the first half of 1982.  Enjoy!

Great buy! I gought mine in 1981 and serial number is just below yours. I highly recommend the pachmyr rubber grips as they will help with reduction of felt recoil. Be wary of the 'T/C' disease. Once you start buying, you never stop!..........
Also, you legally can't go from a pistol to a rifle barrel with the contender or vice versa. You have to stick with what it was designated from the factory. . This has been discussed at length on various forums/threads.

Read the sticky at the top about converting back and forth between a rifle and a pistol.

Don't forget to remove the choke from .45/.410 barrel before shooting .45s. Accuracy will suffer and pressure could go through the roof.
