looking for...
« on: March 01, 2012, 08:40:28 PM »
I am wanting a long barreled .22 LR bolt action rifle.  I say bolt action, because I want a repeater with a known square breech lock up, and will prefer a repeater over a single shot.  My idea of a long barrel is 20 to 24 inches.  The idea here is noise reduction, nothing more.  Yes I know this is borderline on costing me velocity, but a guy wants what a guy wants.

What rifles would you recommend looking for?? Price range is cheap to inexpensive, with consideration given to value for the money.  New, used, obsolete but available are all on the table.

I bught a single shot very long barreled european trainer a few years ago for $25.00.  It looked like it had been dragged around the parking lot a few times before they sold it, but with some cleaning and a stock re-finish it was OK.  And it shot pretty well.  I haven't seen any for a while but they seem to pop up now and then and are never expensive.

I wanted just such a rifle myself a few years back... But my idea of a long barrel was 24" +...

I bought a Springfield 84C and it shor pretty great! But was kinda fugly... I refinished the stock and it was still fugly with a nicer looking stock. ::)

I discovered CZ made a long barreled trainer. The first ones in the country wore a redish stock. Later the shotcks where conventional colored and where named differently. Story I herd was the inicial run was for a country thet either backed out or didnot need as mant as ordered. CZ sent them here and they where populat and sold pretty quickly. SO they made a second run. What I do not know is if they are still avalible...

This pic shows it scoped, but I bought it to use peep sites and thats what its wearing now. I put on the scope to see just how accurate it is and I was rightly impressed. Its a great shooter. Std vel sound like CB's and CB's are like a supressed rifle. BEWARE, AGUELA no powder bullets should NOT be used.. They do NOT make it outta the barrel!!!  CCI/REMMYS CB's are fine.

Here is a lil video of it shooting:

Thanks guys

CW I hadn't seen the springfield 84c, but I don't think it's too bad to be a knock around rifle.

I'm looking for something like my .22 Mag (Marlin 25MN) with at least equal accuracy, but 1/2" at 50 yards should not be hard to duplicate
