carbon "footprint"

Saw a short mention of the "carbon footprint" on TV.  I got curious and looked up a calculator.  My household came in just under the US average.


BUT


My truck is a 98, so hasn't been sent through the recycling and hauled to china thing, and there is no new truck to use resources.
I do NOT take out good light bulbs to replace them with CFL's.  I do use CFL's in lights that do not need dimmed when they need replaced. There was no mention of the mercury footprint!  I just bought a pack of 100 w incadenscent on purpose because of the new law.
We don't fly anywhere because there is no family to visit and not enough reason to go on a vacation like that if we had the money.  (We already live in Colorado).


We don't recycle aluminum cans because we don't drink much pop.  As for glass, we reuse any jars we can to store bulk bought items.


Maybe there should be a "snob" footprint calculator put up.


As for the world average; I would like see some places get better for the residents, but making my (our) life worse won't change theirs.

One of the things I forgot was how much red meat you eat, and how much organic and local.  I do eat red meat, can't afford organic as a rule, and there aren't any "local" watermelons, grapes, or lettuce this time of year.


I would like to see anyone drive to work in 15 degrees, a foot of snow, and in the dark using a "green" electric.  There may be a time when electrics will be viable, but not yet.

I'd like to see Al Gore's carbon footprint, it'd be like coming across bigfoot's footprint.
 
While the government is getting in our shorts and legislating what expensive lightbulbs to use and how much water we can flush, it is sending someone I know who works for the DOD on frequent trips around the world.  I bet his carbon footprint is as big as Al's.

The carbon footprint thing is what some knowledgeable scientist wanted to debate gore about and he would not. The numbers are made up and dont add up. The group pulling gores strings kept him hid.

  It's all a scam and I pay no attention to it.  I rely more on  mmy Scottish genetics...I don't want to spend any more on fuel, heat or any other energy consumption that I really must.  I also do not like to be wasteful, so it is easy to stay within the "guidelines" without consulting any calculator..skewed by Al Gore types.
