I'm not making this up: DC cop includes DVD outlining constitutional rights as one of the justifications for a search warrant

YT - The problem stems from the government and judiciary system in the District of Columbia.  After all D.C. elected a known crack user, and convicted felon as their Mayor (Marion Barry).  Where is the ACLU when you really need them?
Selling publications and DVD's with the information mentioned in the article is NOT illegal.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Information like that is completely legal. Just my opinion, but sounds like the police dept. there is scared of somebody actually knowing what is legal, and what is not.We will arrest you now, and figure out what to charge you with later. gypsyman

The judge should have thrown the warrant request out.  That point should have tainted the entire filing.  Whatever else was on there, the presense of that moraly and legally repugnant statement made the whole affidavit reek.

The notion that mere, lowly civilian pukes "don't need to know" detailed Supreme Court decisions in regards to law enforcement encounters shows an arrogance and contempt beyond belief.

I believe this is part of the new "guidelines" for being a suspected terrorist.  These include "knowledge" of the Constitution, Rights, Police procedures etc.  Also questioning of Police actions, why am I being stopped etc.  Of course owning guns, large supplies of ammo, believing in "Right Wing" politics etc are also dead give away's to suspected terrorism.

No, no, you've got it wrong - it's not owning gun and ammo, its owning high-powered assault rifles and stockpiles of ammo in their compounds where large amounts of extremist literature is found...

At least, that's how it'll get phrased...

It seems to me the police dept or law enforcement of d.c. is a purposefully, dumbed down institution for the purpose of taking care of the most wicked felons on earth, our government leaders. To the taxpayer they are the taskmaster, to the elite they are slaves. I, personally, am not suprised by anything that comes out of d.c. law enforcement.

I'm really offended by the policeman's position that this DVD was incriminating.  I'm buying the disk.  If "they" don't want the little people to know this information, I'm getting it on principle and I'm buying it not borrowing it.  The people who produce this get my support in the form of the purchase.  Those who would try to keep citizens from understanding the legal system get my contempt.

It's on Amazon if any of you are interested too.  http://www.amazon.com/10-Rules-Dealing-Police-FlexYourRights-org/dp/0974951137/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324908327&sr=8-1

For those who didn't read the linked article, the DVD is "10 Rules for Dealing With the Police", it's a brief primer for the average guy to understand how the system works so you know what you have to know when you encounter a law enforcement professional in his working capacity.  This is information to keep you out of trouble and NOT a manual for law breaking, the cop in the article admits that himself but claims that knowing your rights in the context of this being sold at a medical marijuana facility (also legal) adds up to too much information for the little guys and has to be meant to deceive the police. It's $15.  If you are someone who may have a firearm in your vehicle (legally) or may have prescription medications on your person (legally) or any number of other reasons you may get the extra attention from LE, you may want to get this yourself.

No kidding, my sister spent a night in jail because she had her prescriptions for the day in one bottle without the prescription paperwork for the individual meds.  She was working in a store and the police were talking to the owner.  There was some adversarial BS but my sister wan't involved, she was just there and they asked if they could search her purse.  The whole thing got that far because and only because she was in the same room with her boss who was feeling pissy and got mouthy.   That was a mistake, but it wasn't my sister's mistake. The case was dropped when she produced the paperwork and the lab confirmed that the pills in  question were the pills prescribed.  Still, she spent the night in a crappy town lockup, had her name in the paper for being arrested with 'narcotics' and Mom posted her bail.  Nothing like being 40 years old and calling Mom for bail.  This happened because she said "Sure, I don't mind you looking through my stuff.  I have nothing to hide."  She didn't have to concent to squat and trying to 'play nice' cost her a night in jail.  If they had a real reason to search her posessions they wouldn't have asked for or needed her to concent to the search.  Know your rights or get them walked on.
