Threadlocking compounds

Permatex is less expensive than Loctite, and seems to be more readily available in local stores.  Anybody feel there is much practical difference in the blue/red zone between the two brands?

If you want it there forever use red, but if you think there is a chance you will ever want to take it out use blue.

    Lock Tite is made by Permatex now .

It's my understanding that any of them will release if you heat them up a bit. Have I got that correct?
