During a press conference, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi praised those participating in the "Occupy Wall Street" protests. "God bless them," Pelosi said, "for their spontaneity. It's independent ... it's young, it's spontaneous, and it's focused. And it's going to be effective."
"The message of the protesters is a message for the establishment everyplace," said the House Democrats' leader. "No longer will the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street."
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's net worth skyrocketed 62% last year, to a jaw-dropping $35.2 million, according to financial disclosure forms released Wednesday.
Pelosi's drastic growth, from an initial $21.7 million in 2009, is attributed to recent stock gains and smart investments. (aka insider trading) Her husband reported raking in $1 million to $5 million last year from a sale of Apple stocks. (not to mention the government contracts he got)
The couple also has a commercial property in San Francisco and a home in St. Helena, Calif., each valued between $5 million and $25 million. She also has a stake in some valuable residential real estate in Sacramento.
All rank-and-file members of Congress received salaries of $174,000 last year. As speaker last year, Pelosi was paid $223,500 and House and Senate majority and minority leaders garnered $193,400.
Not to mention Pelosi's free plane rides home, with security, every week. Paid for by tax payers.
But little miss 1% loves the other 99% and supports them with a hardy, "God bless them".
(Did I mention she voted to give herself a raise?)
