John Moses Browining Day
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:24:31 PM »

Help us celebrate the birthday of the genius designer and manufacturer, John Moses Browning.

Sometimes a gunmaker just "gets one right"...look at the Mauser bolt-action, the SMLE, the Garand, the Thompson SMG, etc.  But never in history has there been one man whose influence has been felt so much, who got so many weapons "right", and who made so many things that have been used by so many folks:

BAR, M1917-1919 MGs, Ma Deuce, the 1911, the classic Winchester levers, the classic Winchester pumps, the A5, the Hi-Power, just to name a few.

So, on Jan 20 or 21 (records of his actual birthday disagree), hoist a toast, fire off a few from your favorite Browning creation, and say, "Thanks, John."

Good post reliquary! You are absolutely right, John Moses Browning was a genius and the best firearms designer in history.
I'll try to make some noise with my BAR's on both the 20th and 21st just to make sure I get his birthday right.
Thanks for the heads up.

GOOD SHOOTING!

Should be Browning, not Browining.  Mumble, mumble.

My fave is the M2 HB, but don't have access to one any more.  A magazine from the 1911 will have to suffice.
