Savage Project!
« on: December 29, 2011, 09:07:16 AM »
My latest Savage project has just been completed.
Savage 110 action
E.R. Shaw Varmint weight barrel in 243 Win
B&C Duramaxx stock
SSS Competition trigger
Nikon Monarch 4X16 Scope
My grandson and I started load development today. With Sierra 85gr HPBT GK RL19 was the best among
Varget IMR4064 Imr4831 and RL19.
Tomorrow we will try Sierra 95gr HPBT MK with Varget IMR4064 IMR4831 and RL22.
I'm hoping that this rifle will be my grandson's long range PD rifle.
I'll post some results later. Sorry but I don't do pictures.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
IF YOU'RE GONNA GET OLD,YOU BETTER BE TOUGH!! GETTIN' OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES!!!

I`m a Savage fan too. I just put a Shillon 26 in barrel in 243 on a 110 action. Mine has an 8 twist and what I`ve shot so far with 100 and 107 gr. bullets it will make a good deer rifle, but I`m just putting a few rounds down the barrel to help hone the bore and I`m going to run a 6-284 reamer in it and try for an 800 to 1,000 yrd. varmint gun. With the 10 or 15 rounds I have down the barrel I can see it will do 500 yrds. as a 243.
