First Handy and a bargain at that!
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:27:44 PM »
I purchased my first NEF Handi Rifle today in 30-06. This will serve two purposes a backup to my main rifle and a starter rifle for my two nephews. The rifle looks as new, no scratches on the wood, no marks on the barrel, and the bore is pristine. Seeems it was bought for a grandson to use but the stock was too long so it was traded. With a 2X7 Bushnell Trophy scope, $248.00 out the door. Did I do good? I'm not thrilled with the rings and was wondering if Warne "High" rings would be enough to clear the hammmer. I'll sight it in with Remington Managed Recoil ammo and see what happens, wish me luck!

Sounds like you did pretty well, Bushnell Trophy's are under rated scopes IMO. I like your choice with the managed recoil ammo, kick on a 30-06 in a Handi can be brisk with standard loads, especially to a youngster. You'll have to get a definite answer from the experts, but I would think Warne high rings would be high enough, they tend to be taller than most other ring styles.

I used Weaver Steel Medium rings.
