 Has any one used the newer cast iron Lee press and whats your opinion.

   i USE THE CAST IRON BREECH lOCK PRESS AND DEFINITELY LIKE IT.I LIKE THE EASE OF USING THE BUSHINGS , WHICH MAKES FOR EASY CHANGE ON ALL THE DIES. YES, YOU HAVE TO USE THE BUSHINGS FOR EACH SET OF DIES, BUT, FOR A SINGLE STAGE PRESS YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND ANOTHER ONE FOR THE MONEY.

I have the regular classic cast iron press.  Can't say anything but good, love the primers in the trash can.

Iron??


Iron is magnetic.  Both of my Lee presses are aluminum framed.  One is an O frame the other is a C frame both are non-magnetic.  If you have cast iron Lee presses you have something there.  I understand there is an iron insert in the "breech lock" presses for the interrupted threads.


My presses are 12 and 23 years old, and still load quality ammo, so regardless of frame material I highly recommend them.

I love the Classic Turret that I have had since the first year introduction. Four hole turrets hold two sets of rifle dies or one set of pistol dies with taper crimp die. Right now I have more money invested in extra turrets than in the press. I set up a turret with my dies adjusted properly and when I change calibers I simply replace the turrets.

All LEE presses are aluminum except the LEE cast iron one.

Lee has 2 cast iron presses.-The Classic Cast and the Classic Turret. Had the Classic Turret for two years and love it.

They advertise them as being made from old rail from the railroad. If so, it ain't cast iron cuz that stuffs made from steel. So maybe cast steel?? However, I have no problem with aluminum presses as in  some Dillon presses, my RCBS ammomasters are aluminum framed and if they're strong enough to resize a 50 BMG, that strong enough for me. To answer the question on the Lee Classic series presses, they are as good as it gets. YMMV.
