Where to get primer carriers
« on: September 29, 2010, 03:56:36 PM »
I just picked up a used Huntsman for a friend of mine (he liked mine more than his two high dollar in-lines). Problem is it didn't come with a breech plug wrench or primer carriers. He is going to have a machinist make him a wrench (unless someone has a better idea). I looked at the NEF website and they want $3 each for primer carriers!!!  Any cheaper sources?

That's for a package of 10, plus shipping and tax, it's a good price, many sources want $10-$15 for a pack.

Are you sure about that Tim? If so, I'll quit griping and start buying! Any ideas for a breech plug wrench? I paid $140 and it was CLEAN! Good deal?

Yup, they come in packs of 10, that's a great deal ya got, check the FAQs, there are some alternatives for the wrench.

Call again and get a second opinion!! ;D The part number is still the same with an "F" prefix added, it's a pack of 10 on the 2008 retail price list, only they were $1.50 then.

Very generous of you NatureNick, I sent you a PM. My brother just got a sidekick but it didn't come with any carriers. I loaned him a few to use because we can't find anyone selling them locally.

There is a pawnshop locally that has some of the carriers. I'll find out how much they want for them. They probably had at least 5 packs of them and probably don't sell any muzzlelaoding stuff since the state went to singleshot cartridge rifles with a hammer for primitive weapons season.
The 209 conversion breechplug is the way to go however and I think they were running around $37 post paid..

Just called them 13.95 for a pack and they have 2. Contact me if you want them and I'll send a contact number.
I have a few carriers and a 7/8th breechplug and wrench for the cost of postage.

Guys, if you guys are still looking for primer carriers, listen to Quick, he hasn't steered anybody wrong.
H&R/NEF sells them for the best price, or you can get them off gun broker for $10 - 13 a pack, plus shipping.
