.223 Handi Rifle Bullets

I'm shooting a .223 Handi rifle with a 1 in 12 inch twist Bull barrel.
I was wondering if anyone here is shooting the 68 Grain Hornady BTHP Match Bullet or the 75 Grain Hornady BT A-Max Bullet out of their .223 Handi rifle with this twist . . . .
What kind of accuracy did you get ? I'm thinking the twist rate may be a little slow for this heavy of a bullet but I'd like to find something a little heavier to shoot than the 55 grain bullets.
Thanks !

I've not had any luck with heavy bullets. I've shot up a bunch of them just to hear it go bang, but accuracy was dismal. My best were some 48gr. match hollow pt.s, same hole accuracy. I'm thinking you need that 1 in 9 for that heavy a bullet.

Yes, that's what I was thinking too. I was hoping somebody had defied the rules of twist though.

It is not just weight, it is length. They might not have the high BC, but if you are determined to use a heavier bullet, try a Win 64 gr (Power Point I think) or Sierra 63 gr semi pointed before you give up.

Speer makes a 70gn. semi spitzer soft point that might work for you. I've used them in a Savage 24 222 with a 1:14 twist. They stabilized and were accurate enough for my usage. No trouble keeping them in about 5" at 100yds without any load development. PM me if you want me to mail you a few to try.

Well, I guess they would take deer; however, I'm using my .223 Handi rifle for Coyote hunting. I thought the heavier bullets may offer a little better wind resistance.

I shoot the 70 gr Speer as well with great accuracy, but my .223 Uktra Varmint is a 1:9.
