H&R Model 733
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:13:12 PM »
I have just acquired an H&R Model 733, s/n AF10856, marked 32 S&W, 2" barrel, 1 1/4" cylinder length.  It is nickel plated, some rust on cylinder side, cylinder and barrel bore some slight rust.  I will greatly appreciate any and all information available.  I am particularly interested in correct cartridge for this revolver.

Thanks, Olemanonthelake

Well 32 S&W cartridge is what it will shoot.
You can still buy them new manufacture.
I just picked a box up for my little mouse gun rcently.
Check the internet stores like MidSouth, Grafs, the like.

Can you post a picture of the gun?

Here's some ammo at Sportgmansguide:

I'm sure if you shop around you could find a better price also.

oldman,

The AF prefix of the serial # = 1969 manufacture of your 733.

The Models 732/733  were made from their inception in 1957, to handle BOTH the .32 S&W and .32 S&W LONG cartridges.  Early pieces will be marked .32 S&W while later examples will have a 'L' added after the barrel cartridge stamping.  You can use either cartridge in your gun.

Thanks for the info, guys, you are really on the ball.

That's what I needed to know.  I was not sure it could handle both "shorts"  and "longs".  Date of mfgr also helpful.

Thanks again, keep you powder dry, and Happy New Year,  olemanonthelake
