Rossi .357 single shot
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:13:57 AM »
Hello everyone!  New to the forum and new to posting. Just purchased a Rossi single shot in .357 mag.  I know a little about the gun and would accept any input I could get.  I have 140 invested in rifle, red dot, and sling.  I live in the southeast Tennessee region and hunt in very thick areas.  I am also going to modify this gun as it has a 23in barrel on it and I will be cutting it down, and refurbing the whole gun.  Please give me some input or some info,  have a good one.

Go a few spots down and look at the handi rifle forums. They chop off barrels and ream out chambers with abandon. I would look at probably going down to 18" on the barrel and ream the chamber out to 357 Max. You got it cheap enough to work with it :)

I've had one for several years and it's a fun gun to shoot.  Never did any "serious" shooting with it, just plinking with .38's and some .357's.

Have used it to eliminate a few porcupines and a couple of skunks that wandered into my yard.

I don't think I'd be comfortable reaming it out to .357 Max as the Rossi .357 is built on their small frame.
