10 Gage 32" Full. Can this be cut back for a Turkey Gun?
« on: January 09, 2012, 12:31:05 PM »
I've got a old SB1 10 gage 32" full that I used years ago for geese.  The gun is in like new condition but just sits in my safe these days, as I don't hunt them anymore.

But I am considering doing some Turkey hunting.  Before I spend a few $$$ for a dedicated turkey gun I am wondering if my 10 could be easily converted to a decent turkey killer. Any thoughts much appreciated.  Jim

rather than cut it back, I would weld on 4ft of pipe for some extra weight.
I shot a double barrel many years ago, can't imagine shooting a light single barrel :o

it would probably work great as it is...............if you cut it down, you loose tha choke.

They don't kick as bad as 3 1/2  12 ga and pattern better

I have a newer H&R 10 ga that I bought a extra barrel for. I have one barrel that is 36 inches long and full choke, works very well for turkey hunting and has a good tight pattern even at 40 yards. The other barrel was a 28 inch that I cut down to 18.5 inches doesnt pattern well but you dont want to be within 20 yards of it ;D  BTW the recoil isnt as bad as you think even with 3 1/2 slugs
H&R/NEF 10, 12,16 20 28 ,410 .243 45 357 45lc. 1919a4, uzi, sten mK 2,3,5 M2HB, 1917a1, ak74(2) amd 65, RPK (2) 11 aks and 50 other guns....
