I need to send my Model 65 back to the factory for warranty work, does anyone have any idea  what kind of turn around time I'm looking at?

The range I've seen reported on there is 10 days to 5 weeks.  Personally it took them a little less than four weeks the one time I had to send something in to them.

Based solely on my personal experiences (several) with them I'd say if you get it back in five weeks you'll be doing well. Of course if it comes back fixed you really should buy a lottery ticket immediately before your luck runs out.

Should I ever again decide to own a Taurus I'll pay a gunsmith to fix it before I'd ship another gun to them for repair. Some folks seem to have had better luck with them than me.

The only thing I have now made under the Taurus/Rossi banner are a couple of Rossi M92 rifles and you can bet if repair work is needed they will not be sent for warranty work. I'll pay a gunsmith to fix them should they ever need it.

I just got an e-mail from them and the gun should be repaired in two weeks, so with shipping I should have it in three, which will be 02/03. I'll be sure to post how long it takes.
I tried to have a local smith fix it for me but I was informed the parts I'd broken were factory only. He also told me he wasn't surprised I'd broken my gun, given the 1,000 rounds or so I'd put through it. According to him, a Taurus just isn't built to take that much shooting. Too bad, I really like the way this gun feels and shoots.
Perhaps it's time to upgrade, I've always wanted a Blackhawk.

It has a lifetime warranty...keep sending it in and getting parts replaced free if thats what it takes.....sounds fair to me.  I have had nothing but good luck with Taurus's customer service.  Good luck

My gun was supposed to arrive yesterday but when I went to their website to track the repair, I saw the repair had been completed but  hadn't been shipped. I then called the customer service dept and after a short hold I was informed the gun wasn't able to be repaired and I would be receiving a new one. I guess I broke it pretty good.
I then had to call my local dealer and have the mfax their FFL to Taurus so they could ship them the gun. I asked about the transfer fee that I would most likely be charged and the customer service rep told me Taourus would reimburse me when I sent them a receipt.
I'll be sure to post wat happens.

GH1, I am just curious as to why they are sending it to an FFL. I had a Henry Acu-Bolt in .17hmr that would not eject a fired case, so I sent it back to Henry. Two days after they got it, they sent me a new rifle and it came to my house instead of my dealer. God Bless.

Good question Kid, I really don't know. I talked to my dealer yesterday and the gun did arrive, I just need to pick it up. I'll try to get it today or tomorrow.

I've been very pleased with Taurus's service.  I have owned 3 Gaucho's and 2 went back.  The first was because I wasn't pleased that it didn't index on half-cock quite like I wanted.  Oh, it worked and could be used that way, but the holes didn't line up completely with the loading gate.  I called them expecting to be told that it was my problem (because it worked fine the way it was) but they said fine, send it in.  It came back in three weeks with the indexing corrected.  The other one I bought used and found the front sight to be too short.  I called them and they asked if I wanted the correct sight sent to me, or if I wanted them to take care of it.  I sent it in to them through my gunsmith and called them after a couple of weeks.  They were about to send it back as my gunsmith had only said 'repair as needed'.  So I told them the problem, it had a .300 hight sight and my other two exactally like it had .335 and shot to point of aim.  I got it back in a couple more weeks.  They installed a new barrel instead of changing out the front sight.  They said they were afraid they might leave marks on the barrel changing the sight, so they changed the whole barrel.  Also included was a target they shot with it at 25 yds and all bullets were centered on the target.  To say I am pleased with their customer service would be an understatement!  44 Man

I just returned from the range with my new Model 65. It shoots very well and the trigger is excellent, MUCH bettter than my old one.
I'm quite pleased with it.
