Wishes For a Adjustable Sight .357 SP101Comming True ........
« on: December 18, 2011, 02:11:35 AM »
I was on Davidsons yesterday looking arround and saw the new Ruger SP101 .357 with the 4.2"bbl, fiber optic front sight and fully adjustable rear sight. Well I paused just long enough to get my wallet. It will be here by Tuesday and will be a perfect match to the .22 SP101's I have. Incase anyone is interested they still had like 31 left after I made my order but if it was anything like when I ordered my .22's they wont last more than a week and they will all be sold.

Sounds GREAT. Except for the fiber optic front sight.
I prefer a traditional black frontsight blade.
Do they change out like on the GP-100?.

They appear to be replaceable, but I'm not going to. They come in real handy in the woods and low light conditions, plus me eyes can see them a little better. I have been using it on the trap lines and it really puts a hurtin on some coyotes. I down loaded some .357mag 158gr sjsp to arround 1050-1100fps for it (inbetween 38+p and .357 loads), and it a pleasure to shoot :) . When trapping season ends I will work on the loads, but this one seems to be plenty out of that little gun.

In a pancake holster and walking through the woods and in and out of the truck all day I hardly even know its there other than the comfort of (KNOWING) its there when I need it.

Been shopping around for .357 as well and I am pretty sure I am going with same here shortly. Really like the fiber sight for my old eyes! I looked at the S&W R8 and I can buy two of these for the price of that S&W. Extra 2 rounds is not worth $600 to me.  I had a Redhawk in 44 and regret the day I sold it. Ain't gonna happen with this one.

Muddyboots, I don't think you will be disappointed. I love mine, and it field carries real good, hardly noticable after a day on the belt. Its becomming one of my favorites.

I just bought one yesterday.I've had the 2 1/2 and 3" 101 models.I couldn't wait to see and hold this one. When I got my chance yesterday to hold it just felt like an all new designed gun it didn't fell like a 101.I know I can't wait to get out an shoot it.Now I have to have a custom High Ride holster made for her.If you get a chance to hold one of these you should they don't fell like any other Ruger .357.
