Ron Paul plans to make huge cuts in defense spending.  I can't support that.  We need a strong military worse than ever.  We need the jobs defense spending provides.

Did you see where he plans to cut? Overseas bases, which provide very little in US jobs.

Whereas Romney and Obama plan to cut locally, and leave the jobs in the european and asian markets. Obama is cutting 500,000 out of the military - 1/3! So far the GOP is on board with that plan in principle, just quibbling over the details to protect their constituents.

Bottom line, Defense will be cut, no way around it. So pick how you want it cut. I prefer RPs method than anyone elses as it keeps the most US jobs, and that's all I care about.

All military spending helps create jobs.  Romney has said he will grow the military....I don't like Romney, but that's something I will support.

We have military bases in so many irrelevant countries.  Close those bases down overseas.  Bring the troops home.  Put them on the border.  Why waste money on wars in countries where we have no business being in?  We simply can't afford it.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

IF you understand what is happening in our politics and understand Ron Paul's position you don't have to promise anything, You simply continue to vote for one that has real solution.

If Paul doesn't get elected it doesn't matter if a Democrat or Republican gets elected because they are both on the same path. The Democrats have simply carried on with laws, policies and taxes the Republicans started.

If Obama gets elected again it will just bring this political scalping to a head quicker and people claiming to be patriots will have to do something or shut up, give up and hide under a rock.

Third party, write in, a promise isn't necessary, there is no other choice to take our country back.

All military spending helps create jobs.  Romney has said he will grow the military....I don't like Romney, but that's something I will support.

Let us see how "all military spending helps create jobs"? Where does that money ultimately come from? Well it eventually comes from the people. That means that the people will have less money to spend or save which means that less things need to be produced because they won't be bought, which causes a loss of jobs or less is saved meaning there is less available capital for businesses to invest in future production.
Now it is true that someone might be employed to make a bomb, however when that bomb is exploded, that production is forever lost to the economy. It is capital destruction. Maybe Washington knew what he was talking about when he said that wars only bring debt to a nation. Maybe some people today, that have believed the Keynesian lies, don't know squat.
The sole purpose of government is to protect your liberty. The Constitution is not to restrict the people, but to restrict government.  Ron Paul

Romney has said he will grow the military

But he hasn't said how.

This is sort of in my rice bowl right now, mid-grade officer with 2 in college, pondering retirement. According to folks in uniform who know the numbers, unless they increase our budget, we will have to shrink because costs are going up - we were just legislated into using $14 a gal biofuel on the west coast for heaven's sake, while we sent thousands of E-6s packing when we promised them retirement. Maintenance costs alone keep getting kicked on the down the road ... we're very near a critical mass level where one day, air force won't fly, navy won't sail because its all broke and no money to fix it. There is no alternative but to cut the military to reduce costs, and that's OUR (DOD) opinion.

Or start another war ... who wants that?

Either way, you're talking increasing tax revenues, and protecting them from all other spending. If we cut everything out the budget today, and I mean everything, except defense and entitlements, we'd still not bring enough in taxes to cover just the day to day operational costs, never mind grow. That's a fact.

So we shrink, but we shrink strategically, not politically, and that's exactly what Romney doesn't understand.
