recoil openion
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:53:18 AM »
I have some contenders that havnt been shot in about 20 years. I may trade a few off but have some questions. I bought contenders at 18 and now in 50s. The one barrel I dont rember the recoil is a 14" 223 I have a pistol scope on it and that probably answers my question but. Can I shoot a rifle scope taco hold without worry. I remember using that hold with a 7mm tcu shooting sillywets and touching my face some times. That was in my twentys and dont have the patients for that or was it stupidity. Anyways what is your openion. I am thinking I want to keep that barrel but hate pistol scopes anymore.
thanks, Sparky

I have a rifle scope on my Super 14, .223 barrel and have no problem, even with only 3" of eye relief.  Hope this helps.

I have rifle scope on a .223 Hunter barrel. I use it to shoot with a taco hold, from the flop position and from the bench. I have no problems. But, the Hunter barrel does have an integral brake.

Thanks for the replys. I guess I may hold onto my 223 barrel. I will try it out some time with a rifle scope.
thanks

I use one of the Burris Timberline scopes, intermediate eye relief, on my 14" .222, off a bench without a problem.  Hasn't kissed my eye brow yet.
