Silver prices and what dealers will pay you?
« on: January 19, 2012, 03:03:57 AM »
I have recently found a modest amount of genuine Sterling in the form of Silverware and ladles among a lot of plated stuff that we have either owned or inherited some time back.

The Wife and I did just a little research and found that prices had dropped way off in the later part of 2011 but are slightly on the rebound.

My question is how much the dealers will actually pay for this stuff?...I think that the current prices are at least $28.35 per Oz and may be around $30.16 at present.

I checked with just one online source (Silver & Gold Exchange) and saw that they will pay $14.08 per avoirdupois (or postal scale) oz for Sterling. Does this seem to be in the ball park?
I doubt that we will ship anything and am just looking for a fair price if I choose to deal with the local shops around here.

Thanks

hold on to it if you can.  if we get some inflation in the next couple of years, it'll probably go over $40 per ounce. a couple of years ago I bought 109oz to have something to spend if the dollar went kapoot.  paid $20 and it was $30.43 yestarday.

At least wait till after the election. If the Bummer wins the price will skyrocket. If the good guys win the price might not go up so much, but we can all breathe a little easier.
