I just received my Ultimak optic mount yesterday. This was a pretty easy install. It replaces the foward gas tube on your AK with their gas tube which has a built in picy rail on top. It then uses some u-bolt machined parts to mount firmly to the barrel. My AK was a Romanian G series. Been looking at the best way to install some type of optics on this AK and the Ultimak seems like a good way, maybe a litte expensive (about $100).
I have mounted a BSA red dot on it and hope to get out to the range over the weekend. Maybe I'll have a good range report. Might even get a pic or two to post.
