  can anyone tell me if the 25/06 Ackley IMPROVED  comes close to the 257 weatherby if they both have a 26 inch barrel shooting the same bullet weight. i was told they do. i really can't find any info on the 25/06 AI.  can one fire form the shell  [25/06 AI] also.

Yes the 25-06AI will duplicate the 257 WM with heaver 115-120 gr bullets and do it with a LOT LESS powder. The 25-06AI will come within 100 fps of the 257 WM with the lighter bullets. Check out the Sierra Edition V manual. It has data for both the 25-06AI and the 257 WM. It has been in my experience that the 25-06AI is easier to get to shoot accurately and is in the most part more accurate than the 257 WM. My hunting buddy has had both calibers in numerous different guns. He does not keep anything long because he likes to play with a new rifle even if it is in the same caliber. He is retired and has the money to play all the time.  ;D
