Toby's done a lot of work on his site, and has updated it to include many muzzleloading links of interest on the main page. It is not often that a well-published hunter and author goes to such effort to freely offer the latest revelations in field testing and new products-- I can't think of anyone else that comes close. Well worth a read to anybody that is serious about muzzleloading.

The following is the right sentiment, coming from one who has worn the buckskins, popped game with round balls, sidelocks, heavy conicals, you name it-- and, most importantly-- no matter how many animals are piled up, year after year, still keeps working for a "better way." Sometimes, the only way to progress in the art of muzzleloading is to remain forever "unsatisfied." I hope Toby never is!

...  Whether or not you agree with how this sport has changed, and our coverage of today's rifles...powders...projectiles...and sighting systems . . .   We don't care if its hammer is on the side...on the bottom...or in the rear.   We only care if the shooter is relying on the absolute best performing load that rifle can be stuffed with.  -  Toby Bridges, HIGH PERFORMANCE MUZZLELOADING

There are scant few reliable sources of current information to the muzzleloading that are not only free and topical, but truly independent and honest. Toby Bridge's site is one of the few that cut the ice, and that is why it is saluted here.

:-) Thanks for the kind words Randy.

I would love to hear from all other performance minded muzzleloading hunters to learn what they would like to see published on my website.  If you have any recommendations, please post them here so all can read.

Thanks

Actually, I have found your .50 caliber round ball coverage to be a bit lacking.

As for suggestions for "HP Muzzleloading" topics, Toby-- all I can do is award you the coveted high honor of "STICKY," a very rare and wondrous thing-- if temporary. That should make it a bit easier for the folks looking for more information on various topics to mention it to you here.

Perhaps not the most thrilling "sticky" you may have experienced in times past-- but, a "sticky" nevertheless.

Toby,

I can see you are flooded with suggestions.

You may have this in your files, in between squeezing off your annual dose of 10,000 shots through the Savage, maybe you can report some rules of thumb:

Older sabot performance vs. the newer compounds?

Shelf life of BP subs?

Hygroscopicity of BP subs?

Effects of bedding on frontloaders?

BTW, when is the "new" book due out? How big? How much? Anything on on "High Performance Muzzleloading" at all?

Hi Toby, I sent you an email about PR bullets a couple
months ago. You replied right away thanks. You said
you haven"t tested any DeadCenters. I would like to
see you test and harvest some game with them. I am
so happy with the 220grn .40cal and the .44cal 300grn,
both out of 50cal. Inlines. I would really like to see what
you think of them in a shooting and hunting situation.

                                                               Thanks,
                                                                       Tom

Grouse

From what I can recall in reading past Toby threads/posts, I tend to think he is a proud sponsor of USA-manufactured bp tools... not a first-choice buyer from places like Spain or Canada unless one of these two countries had something exclusive that Toby wanted .

I could be wrong on this... but my odds are real good I'm right. Chances are, if the T/C Shockwaves shot equal to the Dead Centers in past tests conducted, Toby would dismiss price differences & buy American T/Cs. Toby's latest penchant is the Savage ML rifle.... all their factories are in the USA except a 22/17 rimfire factory in Canada.... I think!

Randy, while you are at it aren't you going to chastize Toby for disputing the claims of Ultimate Muzzleloading?
You certainly chastized me when I referred to Toby's testing that apparently disproves Ultimate Muzzleloading's claims.
This is on the thread, "Do you really get any further distance from the 45".
You told me "...if you need to cry out BS you need to have at least one person on the planet that has shot the gun in person, and found it won't do what is claimed."
Aim small don't miss.

No, Simon,

I think I'll just mention that you are on the wrong thread, off-topic, and it was you who were crying foul when "Deputy," who owns one, stated the performance claims were correct, he personally owned one, and had personally verified that their stated claims were correct. The thread you are referring to is here: http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=23879

You can believe whatever it is you care to believe-- but you have no reason and zero personal knowledge from which to infer that Deputy is a liar.

Triple se7en, i guess he does test some. Thanks Randy.
Now i would like to see him test some hunting. With two
777 pellets, Shockwaves wont shoot like DC"S out of
either of my guns. But they do shoot good.

I love Toby's web site and have gained a great deal of knowledge from it. In fact it was this web site, along with numerous personal emails with
Toby that inspired me to get a Savage last summer.
Randy, while you are admiring Toby's web site, maybe you could learn from him how to deal with people in a gentelmanly fashion.
Toby is a gun expert, but he is never arrogant, argumentative, or condescending.

Simon,

"Arguing" is apparently all you are trying to do. Debate is an American tradition-- but, you are still very much on the wrong thread for it.

If it is not clear what the purpose of this thread is for, I'll repeat Toby's words for you:

I would love to hear from all other performance minded muzzleloading hunters to learn what they would like to see published on my website. If you have any recommendations, please post them here so all can read.

Since when does any thread remain "on topic"... might as well try and herd cats!! :-D  Doesn't happen... there is always something that is off topic.

That is the nature of the beast!! Randy, how many times have you posted a 2am ditty that caffiene and to much week old pizza inspired?

"Luke, I am your father... the power of the dark side is more than you could imagine... join me!"

And so our young adventurer has succumbed to the lure of the power of moderator... can he be saved... who can reach him in time and draw him back from the brink!!

Stay tuned to the continuing saga... will it be "The Return of the Slightly Off-Centered Poster" or "The Manic Moderator Strikes Back".

That was slightly off topic... I guess... but it was fun!!!  :D

P.S. I did visit Toby's site after posting this... it just keeps getting better!

I certainly agree with that.

No week old pizza here, though-- just fresh caribou pizza.
