Winchester Model 97 issues
« on: March 07, 2012, 08:43:40 PM »
I recently Cleaned Up my great grandpas Model 97 year 1918 or 1917 i believe, and it shoots and ejects shells, the only problem is that when you cycle it the carrier does not drop down and out of the receiver like it should, it just moves down about a quarter inch then locks back into place, any ideas, It hasnt been fired in 20 years previous to my ownership, dad last shot it in the early 90s or late 80s, like i said before I can rack it and place a shell in when the bolt is in the fully retracted position then it will fire, but Id like to be able to cycle more than one shell through!  Any ideas or suggestions would be much help.  It is a 12 gauge full choke take down model, 30 inch barrel

Nevermind, Fixed it, After removing the carrier It was pretty "gunked up" from sitting in the garage all those years, cleaned it all out and works great

I darned near bought one of them at a gun show last weekend.  My father had one when I was a kid, and I always liked it.  Enjoy it!
