What the hay....
« on: January 22, 2012, 09:21:50 AM »
RE: January 17, 2012 by Nick Leghorn at the Truth About Guns site and the SHOT Show.

New from Thompson Center: The Dimension Rifle
I posted about this yesterday, but a quick trip to the Winchester/TC booth jogged my memory and got me some great video.

Implies that Winchester now owns TC???   S&W sold TC to them???

Can anyone comfirm that?

No mention on either TC's or Winchester's websites.

Would have to have happened in the last 30 days if so. I placed an order for a base for my grandson's TC Hot Shot and all the paperwork with it said S&W. That was this month.

I don't buy it Bill, not even close.   Just wondered if anybody here had heard anything that is confirmable.

Still no press releases from TC, S&W or Winchester to indicate its true.   But the new rifle has been added to the TC website now that the show is over (and with no mention of Winchester).

S&W was talking to Remington about selling some of TC assets to them a ways back, as in certain operations, but I never heard that went through.

Who knows if this Nick guy is not just a clueless reporter.    There are folks who think S&W just bought TC last year when it was Jan 2007, or soon after if I remember.   But just like so many things that are false about TC's and many other things, the new Winchester TC its getting passed all around the Internet.   ::)

Ladobe,

You seem to have a insider relationship with TC. Why not just ask them?  ;)  Truth is, nowdays it's hard to know who owns anything for sure or where it's mfg. I bought a new Ford Probe a while ago, Thought it was a Ford, turn out it really was a Masda. At least most of it was.

Ford and Mazda have been marketing the same vehicles under different names for over 20 years.

Patorp,
I could have easily done that for decades and got the true exact facts, but "HAD" applies now that ALL my internal friends that were at TC for years and years are gone now.   My two closest contacts are long gone, Tim Pancurak retired and Ken French left then died a few years later.   And all the rest in the shops either retired, moved on, or were left behind when S&W gave the axe to most of the rest of the crew and moved the operation.    Had started a new relationship with the new customer service boss and shop manager after Tim left, but I haven't talked to them since before the move started over a year ago - so no idea if either are still there.    Doesn't really matter if Big Red owns some of TC now I guess.   I'm just so used to jumping on the wagon to defend TC when I see the endless "hearsay" about TC(s) being passed on and on by folks who don't have a clue, but post it like they do.   ;)

Yes bill I believe it was about 20 yrs. ago when that happened. It came as a surprise to me though. It was a wonderfully car. I drove it 120,000 miles or so & gave it to my daughter & she put another 50,000 trouble free miles on it.
But when I bought it I really expected a ford, after all it said ford on the emblem.  ;)

Because Ford owns somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% of Mazda.

I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.
