"I have strong feelings about gun control. If there is a gun around I want to be controlling it." - Clint Eastwood
That can be taken in two entirely different ways. It almost sounds like the one, "Gun control means hitting your target".
To be honest with you, if you read between the lines of that saying that Clint supposedly said to Gene Hackman, I don't see all that much wrong with it. I am for guns but I am completely against the way Hollywood portrays them and I think that Hollywood, not guns themselves, has something, if not everything to do with gun violence and violence in general within our cities. I also think that Hollywood is the reason why there are so many anti-gunners out there. How many times have you seen a six shooter in a western shoot 10 or 12 rounds?....all from a gun where these shooters traditionally only carried five live rounds in their revolver. How many times have you seen a 30 round magazine fire 100 or more rounds and then from out of nowhere the actor pulls another magazine and shoots another 100 rounds from a 20 or 30 round magazine. It's no wonder why people hate guns. They watch too much TV!
Additionally, most Hollywood movies like to portray a victim that has just been shot with glory as they say their last dieing words to a friend or a loved one. They make them some kind of hero or something. I think not! If Hollywood showed the real way it looks when someone is shot, I don't think anyone would find anything attractive about it, with the exception of a few very socially sick individuals.
I'm sure most of you here have seen an animal shot in the head and how they bounce around for a few minutes with blood spurting in every direction. If that was portrayed as it is for real, I don't think too many people would find any glory in shooting scenes. I don't even think they'd be allowed on TV.
Ugg...sorry, didn't mean to go on and on like that but I think you know what I'm trying to say.
