I love mine, great for our little Red Squirrels (they are the size of chipmunks). I put BSA's Sweet 17 on it. Not the greatest scope in the world, but it works well for me. It is dead on out to 125 yards, then the bullet goes higher than the cross hairs. At 225 yards it's about 2" higher than the scope, but at 275 they come back together. If you are shooting at a fox, no problem, you will still hit it at any distance from 25 to 300 yards if you range and dial properly.
At our local range there is a mound of dirt we shoot into. It is 337 yards from the firing line. the reticle on the BSA scope is heavy about half way up, then it gets thin. At that junction, with the scope dialed for 300 yards, it is right on for 337 yards. I go out and throw a bunch (4 or 5) of 4" clay skeet targets out on the mound. Then I will sit and shoot them. Every shot breaks a target. I take a shot, open the action, replace the cartridge, snuggle back into the gun on the rest, resight, take the shot, then do it all over again. Usually when all of the targets are broken, and I turn around, there is people standing behind me wanting to see what I am shooting. They can't believe a H&R Sportster in .17 HMR can shoot that far. I love to show off.
