Dan Wesson 357 mag
« on: May 07, 2012, 06:15:31 AM »
I finally got to check out a Dan Wesson revolver at my local gunshop. WOW very nice!! That gun has very tight tolerances !! They are asking $1089. I just bought a S&W 686 5".  kind of hard to justify to the wife I need another 357. Any one have any experience with these guns ???

I had one a few years ago.  It was an excellent gun and shot very well.  The interchangable barrel feature was the only problem I had.  When I changed barrels I had to re-sight it in since the rear sight is on the frame and the front is on the barrel sleeves.  As a result, the 4" barrel was the only one I used.  I would recommend it although the price seems a little steep.

I have three of them and I think they are great. I have a 2", 4", 6", and two 8" barrels, one with a scope on it. they are the most accurate revolvers I have ever owned. I use to use a 44mag one in handgun silhouette  wound up selling it but kept my 357's  ;D

I used DW's for years in IHMSA match's. Was always happy with accuracy and performance. No experience with the ones now coming out of CZ. Price does seem a bit high, but when you consider the only revolver that consistantly beats DW's in long range accuracy is Freedom Arms, and their price is much higher, guess they arn't too bad. I'm still stuck in 1980 price's, where you could pick one up for $350-$450 and shoot it for years. gypsyman

The new Model 15 coming out of the Norwich, NY plant is a very nice revolver. If you can justify the price you won't be disappointed. All my DWs shoot extremely well, better than my tired old eyes can.
