Outfitter tents
« on: December 31, 2002, 06:51:32 PM »
I am seriously thinking about selling my camper and investing in a good outfitter grade walled tent that used for spike camps and such.  Anybody have any info on specific tents and or companies that manufacture these?

I was looking also a couple of weeks ago.  Using the internet searching, wall tent, I found quite a few tent companies that make canvas wall tents.  I would like one that is about 6 x 8' with a stove flap.

Last week I was stranded for five days out on Prince William Sound and sure could of used a good wall tent.  The problems with then is: weight, mold and poles.  But, if your doing a week long hunt in Idaho or Oregon they should be the nuts when the snow hits.

Let me know if you find a good one. Oh, you might try Alaska tent Corporation.

Know what you mean Daveinthebush. I got hit hard with unforecast weather while doing a solo brown bear hunt out in the sound. Spent five days huddled inside a two man expedition backpack tent. Wasn't a whole lot of fun.

I need an Alaska tough tent that'll handle a wood burning stove, yet light enough to pack along in the airplane. Any ideas?

Landed at a government camp (Bristol Bay? Norton Sound? Dutch Harbor area?.... can't remember) one time and they had double-walled, heated tents - stove capable - that were supposed to be very lightweight and wind resistant.  Wish I would have gotten the information about them.

Let me know if you have any ideas or find a good one.
